Please remember this is a service we offer so that people can continue selling and purchasing firearms outside their township. We are not obliged to do this and if we decide not to continue I am not aware of any other dealer that will offer this service in Christchurch.
Please also note, our details do not need to appear on your PMOF or Permit to posess, the details (ie address) on the forms relate to the buyer and seller, we are neither the buyer or the seller.
Please read the below carefully.
See checklist below before coming dropping off

Disclaimer for freighting firearms

Freight Service - DEALER TO DEALER NETWORK from Christchurch to another dealer (note if you are not in chch we can't organise anything for you, contact someone on the list in your area)
Gunworks is part of the "Dealer to Dealer (D2D)" network. "D2D" has been set up as a network of independent firearm dealers you can use to send firearms throughout New Zealand.
If you have bought or sold a firearm, we can courier the firearm for you or receive it on your behalf.
Sending a firearm through us using the D2D network.
* We must have a copy of the police mail order form. A police mail order form outlines the sale and purchase of the firearm. This is obtained by Police and is done between yourself and the buyer. Without this form we cannot accept your firearm. You cannot ask us to sight your firearms licence and then have the receiving dealer sight the buyers firearms licence at the other end, this is not legal. You must obtain a police mail order form.
* The firearm must be sent in an inoperable state. This means a vital part of the firearm must be removed and posted separately to the buyer and you can do this. This part can be a bolt, barrel or stock. Alternatively you can purchase a trigger lock from us to enable the firearm to be sent complete.
* No ammunition or other dangerous goods can be sent with the firearm.
* You must have the firearm packaged and ready to go. Please note we may ask you to open the package for us to view the contents to ensure the above rules have been adhered to.
If we are required to wrap the item there is an additional $50 charge for our time and materials.
* The cost to send each parcel is $95 incl GST to the North Island or $80 to the South Island for a parcel that is no heavier than 5kg with a cubic metre (h x w x d) size of no more than 0.025, heavier or bigger may result in a higher cost.
* Gunworks is acting as a drop off point only, we hold no responsiblity for loss or damage to the firearm once it is in the hands of the courier.
Receiving a firearm through us using the D2D network:
Gunworks does not charge to receive any firearm using the D2D network, however we must have a copy of the police mail order form before you can pick the firearm up and you must have your firearms licence available for us to view.
*** Pistols and revolvers must be trigger locked internally and in a lockable case ***
"Disclaimer for freighting firearms on behalf of Sellers.
If a firearm is lost during the freighting process, Gunworks will on foward any payment from the courier company to the purchaser less any costs incurred to Gunworks from the freighting company.
Gunworks takes no liability for any shortfall in the payment from the loss of a firearm as Gunworks is providing a necessary service which allows firearms to be transported around NZ.
The maximum insurance amount our freighting company will pay is $ 2000.00
If the value of the firearm and accessories exceeds $2000.00 the seller or purchaser will need to take out their own personal insurance policy or check their existing policy to ensure the firearm is covered at the desired cost while in transit. This needs to be done prior to the firearm being dropped off to Gunworks for transportation."
While both NZ Couriers and Aramex use the utmost care when transporting your goods, there is always a chance that something may go wrong. There is always a risk and this risk is across the board with any courier company.

Receiving firearm parts using dealer to dealer network:
Firearm parts such as suppressors, magazines, stocks, bolts, barrels (not firearms, actions or ammunition) etc can be sent direct to you, you do not need to use the dealer to dealer network, however you must provide your seller with a police mail order form. If you choose to bypass the PMOF using Section 29a (3) of the Arms Regulations "Transferring between Dealers" there will be a $40 pick up fee as the item doesn't need to come to us as you can get a PMOF if you choose. Note Section 29a (3) of the Arms Regulations refers to parts only, not firearms, actions or ammunition.

Sending Prohibited Endorsed Firearms is not straight forward nor simple.
This process is currently being streamlined by the Prohibited Firearm Endorsement Team. At this stage there are extra permits that need to be obtained by the dealers, that is, a permit to possess between the seller and the dealer taking possession of the firearm for dispatch, then a permit to possess between the dealer dispatching the firearm and the dealer receiving the firearm, then a permit to posess between the receiving dealer and the purchaser. There may also be further location permits and processes required. This will also create more expenses for both the seller and purchaser from the dealers that have to be part of this process. The dealer receiving must also be Prohibited Endorsed and not every dealer is. NEVER bring your probitited firearm to us without the correct permits in your posession and our posession as you may be breaking the law.
For more information contact the Prohibited Firearm Endorsement Team by either email ProhibitedFirearmEndorsement@police.govt.nz or phone # 04-213 5000.
