Gunsmithing - Prohibited Firearm Modifications

Due to storage capabilities, we can only accept firearms for govt modification that you emailed the details and notification number to us, we cannot accept firearms if the paperwork has not been emailed to us prior.

We are Police approved gunsmiths for modifying your tubular magazine firearm.  https://www.police.govt.nz/advice/firearms-and-safety/changes-firearms-law-prohibited-firearms/modifications-and-approved

We will need the following information from you emailed to us:

First you will need to notify the police your intention to modify by calling them on 0800 311 311.  The police will then issue you with a "notification number" we will need this number.  

***** YOU HAVE ONLY BEEN GIVEN UNTIL 20TH DECEMBER 2019 TO NOTIFY THE POLICE YOUR INTENT TO MODIFY YOUR FIREARM, IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS BY THE 20TH DECEMBER 2019, THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT PAY FOR YOUR MODIFICATION ***** GUNSMITHS HAVE BEEN GRANTED AN EXTENSION TO ACTION THE MODIFICATION PAST 20TH DECEMBER 2019 BUT YOU MUST HAVE NOTIFIED THE POLICE AND RECEIVED A SAP/NOTIFICATION NUMBER **

Your modification will not be paid for by the government if you do not register your firearm as per above.  If your firearm is being couriered you will need to pay the courier fee of $30 each way as the government will not pay for this, they will only pay for the modification.

Bolt action firearms - We require the bolt for any bolt action firearms we modify

Are you dropping off and picking up your firearm directly from us? 
If no, we can freight your firearm back to you but at the moment we can only send to a Gunshop/Dealer, please let us know which Gunshop/Dealership you would like us to send back to.
